Call Me Old - Fashioned...

Do you remember the days at the supper table? The phone would ring and nobody would answer it because you were eating. It didn't matter what who was calling because it had to wait. Meal Time was family time regardless if you were crying over meatloaf and canned peas... We always seem to be wired no matter where we go or what we do. It has become a part of our life. But isn't there a time when we need to take a break from the connectivity. Isn't supper time family time? ...more

Hooters! It's Where You Have a Hoot!

As my son and I walked through the mall attempting to decide where to eat. His eyes looked up at the bright orange sign and said, "Why don't we give Hooters a try?" I sighed, "Umm. Let's go somewhere else that you might like to try!" "Mom! Everybody says Hooters is the place where you have a hoot!" ...more

The Green Sea Monster and Poolside Beauties

I couldn't have been more thrilled when my husband proposed a Vegas getaway! I have a love for the Vegas poolside attractions and the endless people watching possibilities. I packed my favorite poolside attire and was game for a fun trip! The moment we arrived I slipped on my shiny green halter swimsuit and we headed straight for the pool. I kicked up my feet and rested on a lounge chair ready to dive into my James Patterson Novel. I looked up to take a sip of my passion punch, and that was when two gorgeous young Victoria Secret models plopped in the lounge chairs beside me. ...more

True Blood and Mom

Hurray! My mom is visiting us this week! But it also means my True Blood obsession would be interrupted or would it? I had to know what happened to Eric? Was he going to feed on Sookie? And where did my Alcide go? These questions rumbled through my brain. It was 8:45 pm my palms were sweaty, my addiction needed to be fuelled...I looked over my Mother was quietly reading her Debbie Macomber novel. This was my moment to escape downstairs to my one favorite summer show and see what would happened next! ...more

The Neglected Blog

In the morning it gives you the look, as you greet it, and head out the door. The look it gives you is unforgettable and reminds you - yes we need to spend more time together. You promise your blog tonight will be the night I will write a post just for you. It waits, patiently waits, like the neglected lover, waiting for the return of its first love. It never gives you grief only the passive-aggressive guilt you feel for neglecting it. It's waiting for that image of flowers to appear or a kind word or two.... ...more

A Small Taste of Luxury

My husband's car has recently reached its demise, we have always driven used cars, nothing special, or fancy. The purpose of our cars is to get us to point A to point B. We have always smirked at the idea of wasting our money on something that would depreciate in value up to 20 percent a year. ...more

Removing the Bubble Wrap from Our Kids

Instinctively, I walked over getting the knife out of the drawer ready to begin slicing the strawberries for him. He put out his hand for the knife looking exasperated. "Mom! I've done it before." "When?" "When you were gone one afternoon and dad was downstairs working in the basement. I just did it. And I didn't cut my fingers. Just let me do it." ...more

The C Cup Inquisition

It was one of those days were my girls and I needed a little lift. We had been feeling a bit frumpy and I knew it was time to update my wardrobe. I headed to the mall armed with my budget and one eye out for pretty sundresses. It was with luck I remembered to wear my favorite bra! The girls stood at attention as I tried on a very pretty dress for a mighty fine price. I scooped it up and went on my merry way. ...more

The Threat of Liver

I have a confession my son is a picky eater and I have failed at expanding his food horizon. In the past, I scanned every parenting magazine, forum, and sought advice from friends. But nothing seemed to entice him to eat if he didn't want to eat what was on his plate. I am also guilty of catering to his whims, and have been known to cook two separate meals. One for him and one for us. However, our last supper turned into a disaster. I had made lasagna, fresh bread, and salad. What's not to like? ...more

The Judgement of Beauty

On my usual morning routine of scanning the Globe and Mail I came across this article "It's Booty Season: Be Ready to Be Judged." In the article Micah Toub discusses the ideal beauty standards men have towards women. The picture of the perfect booty in Daisy Duke shorts shone across the screen. ...more
