December is National Stress-Free Family Holidays Month

Stress diminishes productivity, motivation and concentration. It contributes to illness, including heart disease, high blood pressure, and strokes; has a negative impact on the immune system, and causes aging at the cellular level. Seventy-five to ninety percent of all visits to the doctor are for stress related complaints. About Me: 
Marcia Davis Taylor is a licensed master social worker in the state of South Carolina. The majority of her career has been spent working in the area of health and human services in the nonprofit sector. She earned her master's degree in social work from the University of South Carolina (USC) and her bachelor's degree in marketing from South Carolina State University. Ms. Taylor was a trainee in the Maternal and Child Health Training Program at USC, and has received specialized training in women's health, children's health, mental health, domestic violence, sexual assault, and individual and group counseling. She has worked for local, state and national nonprofits, and has managed and directed federal, state and privately funded grant programs.

Marcia is also active in her community, having served a two-year term on the Montgomery County Maryland Commission on Children and Youth; and multiple years on the S.C. Department of Mental Health State Planning Council, including serving as chair of the Children's Services Subcommittee. Ms. Taylor has always remained active in the schools where her sons have been enrolled, serving as a "room parent," and in leadership positions on the School Improvement Council and PTSA. She resides with her family in Orangeburg, South Carolina.
