Hey All, so here I am in bed, recuperating from a double mastectomy that I had September 15th....just 3 weeks ago. It's been a whirlwind....I was only diagnosed August 19th, and here I am, not even two months after my diagnosis, boobless, sore, and hopefully cancer-free.I find out in 1-3 weeks if my doctor thinks I'll need chemo. So what's a girl to do while awaiting such news? Why, blog, of course! Read more >

About Me:
I turned 50 this year and I'm loving it. 50 is the year we realize we can start being more ourselves and less what others want us to be...it's so very freeing!
I love to sing, play my guitar, and write songs about people, about myself and about this world we live in. Oh, and I LOVE getting up in front of an audience and making them laugh.
I love helping people discover their passions in life, and encouraging them to pursue those passions. Life is too short for mediocrity, don't you think? Let's live large!
I am trained as an Interpreter for the Deaf, although it's not my favorite thing in the world to do...it's not completely me, even though it's a good way to make a living. In this profession, you have to interpret what everyone else is saying, but you don't get to express yourself at all. That's not me! I have lots of opinions, and lots to say, and I'm too old to sit here not saying it!! Ha!
I am determined to be joyful, even in the face of adversity. On August 19, 2009, the Jewish General Hospital called and told me I had breast cancer. Not even a month later, I had a double mastectomy and am now home recuperating. In a week or two, I'll find out if I need chemo or not.
I had just been accepted on staff at a missions organization in Kona, Hawaii. I had sold everything and given up an apartment that I loved. But all that doesn't matter! I am alive and feeling good, and hopefully I am cancer free! I have friends who have taken me in to live with them, and life is good!
I am a simple girl, walking with a big God, and I know I can trust Him with my life.
When my time comes, He'll take me, and not a moment before. Until then, I will follow where He leads me. I am not afraid.
One of my dreams was to someday make a CD, and two years ago, I did! It's called "You Say" and I really love the way it turned out...my producer did a super job. There are love songs on it, and songs about hurting people (including me), and songs about faith.
If you have time and could use a good laugh, I would love it if you would visit my website and see some of my videos! Go to www.wendy.ca and click on "Funny Videos". Then sit back and hopefully enjoy a laugh or two!
Listen to my fave song "Menopause" plus some other song clips and lemme know what you think! Hearing from women from all walks of life is one of my greatest joys.
I'd love to meet you, so please drop me a line or two and introduce yourself!
And if you are struggling today...with cancer, or another illness, or just life in general, be encouraged! You are not alone in your struggles...many of us around you are also wrestling with things, and often all we need to do is look around for someone else we can lift up, and someone who can help lift us up, and then we're not so alone anymore.
My other blog is designed to encourage people in this journey we call life - I started it when I received my cancer diagnosis: http://wwwadventureswendy.blogspot.com
Many blessings to you, dear fellow pilgrim...may life's blessings follow you this day and every day!
