wholesome mother

Like most Mothers I wear many hats (Wife, Mother, Daughter, Sister, Granddaughter, Co-Worker, Cook, Maid, Teacher, Trainer, Accountant, Gardener, etc.).

My posts are about balancing all of those things while trying to maintain sanity.  You will find inspiration, helpful hints or just common ground that you can relate to.

My "Deer" Grandmother

Slowly, you are getting to know me.  Post by post you piece together who you think I am and what you have learned about me.  You know that I am a God-fearing wife and mother and that I try to maintain a positive attitude no matter what the situation.  Those are the easy things to figure out.  However, there's still a lot that you don't know....more

Too Scary For Beggar's Night?

I tend to ask myself that very question every year around Halloween. We are lucky enough to have a neighborhood that is very ‘festive’.  Some neighbors dress up to pass out candy, most of them decorate their front porches in some way and everyone has a great time… almost....more

Lions, Tigers and Bears (Too Close To Home) Oh My!

It’s not every day that you hear that exotic animals have been released and the local Sheriff is concerned about the public safely.  That is what is happening around my home as I write this.  It was estimated that about 48 exotic animals were released from a ‘rescue’ in Muskingum County, Ohio.  We are talking about mature adult lions, bears, wolves, tigers and even a monkey.  Luckily I am in the neighboring county but, my home is only about 20 miles away from release site.  My Daughter was pleased to hear that her school had decided to delay its start time but, was ...more

Repeat After Me: "Emails Do Not Curse People"

This is a bit off topic for me but, I just need to get this out.  I am truly disgusted by fear and guilt email forwarding! I know you have all experienced this from time to time…  There you are, minding your own business, and then ‘it’ arrives.  You get a little excited when you get an email from ‘so and so’ that you have not seen in some time.  You open it up anticipating the message you will find inside.  You find that it’s a deep message with encouraging words, maybe just what you needed.  But wait, like a bad infomercial ‘there’...more

Bloom My Child

As I was looking over my garden last night I felt a sense of pride.  There is nothing like witnessing first hand the fruits of your labor.  To me there is something very fulfilling about the whole process.  Starting out with just a tiny seed and caring for it until it becomes a flourishing plant that returns the favor by producing beautiful crop.  Although the garden is small in comparison, I couldn't help but think of the similarities between growing the plants and raising our children. We give our children constant attention and love.A day of sunshine ou...more

Rep. Virginia Foxx vs. Breast-Feeding Program

A North Carolina Representative wants to cut funding to a program for low-income women who never learned how to breast-feed.  The program that operates through WIC (the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children) receives funds set aside for breast-feeding support and education through one-on-one peer counselors....more

Work by Day, Blog by Night

Am I crazy?  Maybe so.  Unlike most mommy bloggers I work full-time outside of the home.  I guess I am one of those people that try to add on another hat to keep the rest of them from falling.  Recently I did not receive a promotion that I worked very hard for.  I know I deserved the promotion so it was hard when I received the news.  However, I believe all things happen for a reason and it has fueled my fire.  I am still giving 100% at work by day but, I have also decided to step up my blogging at night. ...more
