5 Ways Moms Ruin A Good Time

There is a new phrase at my house that my husband and children love to toss around. Whenever I start to cross a line into the territory of nagging or hovering over my brood they tell me to, “quit Momming it up!” I have heard this phrase so often in the last few months that I have come to anticipate it when I impulsively do mom-ish things like lick my thumb to wipe dirt off of my son’s little nose. ...more
This made me laugh. My kids are still very young, but I already see these tendencies in myself!more

Don't worry, Mom. I'm fine.

When I was a teenager and living with my Mom, I felt very responsible. She worked long hours and I was frequently home alone. I cooked, cleaned, was a good student and never gave her much reason to worry about me....more

Mindfulness (or lack thereof), Christmas Rush and the Elf

Being mindful is not the easiest task when you are a mom, especially when you are new in the role. A lot of talk went on this summer over the Georgia father who left his child in the hot car to die. Numerous mommy blogs then kept popping up with moms confessing to accidentally leaving their child in the car, at the store, lost in the mall, and sharing their guilt. I personally don't feel that moms should be put on the spot about this and feel horrible that it become a news story that then morphed into a whole zeitgeist about lack of mindfulness in parents....more

I would leave FB once and for all, but I like to stay in touch with friends and family. Any advice on not letting the eager beavers get me down? Signed,Shove It, Showoffs ...more

You Can't Punch Someone's Face Because You Won't Discipline Your Child

I'm a mom, but I'm siding with Natalie Bree Hajek-Richardson on this unbelievable story. That's the woman who got punched in the face outside a Nordstrom Rack for asking the mother of a tantrum throwing child if she could calm her child....more

Grown Up

Summer has started to consistently pick her nose.  According to her, she always has boogers.  The best is when she gets one out.  She flicks it.   She flicks it with such happiness and satisfaction.  My god, some of these boogers are huge.  I don't know how they fit in her small, cute, button nose.  I can't blame her for picking her nose.  It is quite nice.  Especially that her finger fits perfectly in the little nostril.  Unfortunately, society considers it bad manners to pick your nose in public....more
