Quick poll: Do you have a "hospital fantasy"?

Cross-posted from Working Moms BreakInspired by Ami's letter last week and the many comments that followed, I put together this quick poll.* I'm curious to see how many other moms and dads would feel lucky to get, say...bunion surgery, or maybe a minor concussion, if it meant a break from their daily obligations. Please share this with your friends. The more responses the better!...more

Negative self-talk..Our Nemesis

The other day I attended a conference with a colleague. A colleague I have never had much of an opportunity to learn about until this day. What I learned about myself and women in general was quite thought provoking.  We are consumed with the process of convincing ourselves that all of the other women out there (that we perceive as successful) are smarter, more capable, more talented, more professional, better dressed, prettier, on and on.  Am I ringing any bells out there ladies? Am I right? Let’s call my co-worker “Mary” to protect the innocent....more

Sample Sizes

http://projectsupermom.blogspot.com/2010/12/sample-sizes.html Ah, 'tis the season! Treats abound everywhere. Food is the hallmark of celebrating the holidays, and it seems to be everywhere! Even this supermom has to stop and admire fancy Christmas cookies, ponder a cup of peppermint hot chocolate, and seriously consider my own Cinnabon cinnamon roll with an extra side of dipping sauce! What makes these treats even more irrestistable is that so many are offered out as free samples to lure you in for more....more

Moms: How much is your heart worth?

If you’re a mother, you’d better think long and hard about this question. Science is teaching us about the hardships that life imposes on the hearts of women, and for many of us, the news is sobering. At a recent American Heart Association meeting, Dr. Michelle Albert presented research scanning ten years that shows that women who experience a lot of stress at work are 88% more likely to have a heart attack.  So what exactly does “stress” at work mean? Stress means feeling underused and powerless over our decisions or experiencing high job strain....more

The Sexy

Young American girls know what's sexy.   It's the Abercrombie & Fitch pants they wear and the Dolce & Gabbana purses they carry.    It's also their Herbal Essences shampoo, MAC foundation and Victoria Secret-enhanced breasts. Throw in a t-shirt that fits too tight, a few piercings, a tattoo, a touch of devious behavior and the stage is set for action....more

This Much is True

http://projectsupermom.blogspot.com/2010/11/this-much-is-true.htmlSometimes I don't want to admit it...sometimes, it just doesn't feel like it could be true...but, when I really look around me at all that I have...when I take a good look at myself and see all that I am, I can truly say the following words say it all. I truly hope they ring true for you, too, supermoms!"Realizing that despite the craziness, this is the best time of your life!" --Parent Magazine...more

The Great Chicken Nugget Debate – and ‘it takes a village’

I was reading an article recently from Dr Mercola’s site about chicken nuggets from you-know-where (just think golden, and arches, in that order).  Dr Mercola is an osteopathic physician, known as a DO and can prescribe medication and perform surgery in all 50 states.  He has a very popular website, where he provides up-to-date natural health information.  You may have seen him appear on the Dr Oz show, CNN, or heard of the books that he writes, for example, The Great Bird Flu Hoax. One of the posts on his site, published on November ...more
