Momspotting: How Much TV Do Your Kids Watch?

This week, I saw a lot of tweets about young children and television. It's a love-hate relationship for parents.

I love television for my daughter when I just need to finish one more thing before it's playtime. But when it's playtime and she still wants the TV? AAAGGGGHHHH! Totally agree with Firemom.

My grandmother used to stay with us for a month every summer and watched a soap opera religiously. By the end of the month, to my mother's chagrin, I'd always be hooked.

What is it about TV that makes them both lethargic and jittery?

You can follow BlogHer's Momspotters on our interactive map in the Family Connections group.

The Momspotting map tracks our 21 on-the-ground reporters, who are tweeting their daily experiences with parenting and tech.

Family Connections, including the Momspotting map, is a BlogHer community journalism initiative on parenting in the digital age. Mobile phones and cards for our bloggers were provided by Sprint.

I am JUST about to write a post about the amount of TV my 3 year old is watching. It is out. of. control. He is completely addicted. It doesn't help that we've had a perfect storm of illness, pre-school spring break and crappy weather. And that damn moose keeps telling me "It's Like Preschool on TV".
Whatever, tomorrow is a high of 67 and S-U-N-N-Y, we are going to outside to get dirty.

My kids were always too busy to get involved with tv too much but, my daughter always seemed to have it on when she was doing other things. I guess it was more the noise she wanted.

Online Casino

Even though this online casino offers many slot machines, there are many online casino ( http://handyblog.org ) poker, roulette, blackjack and other games here as well.

TV has its place. I love that my 2 & 3 year old know all the words to songs from The Sounds of Music. but...

The TV is on TOO MUCH. They  don't watch TV much per se... they have movies they like to watch. It's more often than what I want, so I practice weaning. They always find better things to do when the TV is not on, after the initial fits.

It's getting my 'support' team - their daddy, big sister, grandparents, on board that is the hard part!

We did the No-TV day the day after that tweet. Did us all good. It helped that it has warmed up and we've been spending more time outdoors and/or out of the house in general. Winter is so hard to find that balance. And, seriously, LB never used to ask for and/or pay much attention to TV. SO glad winter is OVER. It is... right... almost? Hopefully!
