For our last run, Husband and I tried the Run/Walk/Run Method.

Jeff Galloway, a former Olympian, current trainer and expert on the subject teaches this method.

I must say I was skeptical when I first heard of this with thoughts such as, "is this real running?" and "won't I lose tons of time?" But after much reading on his website, including all the testimonials where runners are actually using this method, along with a friend who also swears by it, I was convinced to try it for ourselves.

For my speed, my run/walk intervals are run 2 minutes/walk 1 minute for the entire run (about 3 miles).

One word:  Wow!

I ran my fastest time yet!

Crazy!

I wasn't fatigued, my recovery was quick and I ran really fast during my 2 minute runs...all the way to the finish!

Galloway teaches that using this method does exactly just that: decreases muscle strain which lessens fatigue and risk of injury, while increasing your speed during your run intervals.

I'm so impressed with it and excited to see what my time may be for the next run!

I run 3-4x per week and 2 of the times I do R/W. It's awesome because I feel when I'm running I'm really pushing myself, and I get more out of it. I also feel like the run goes by much faster and cures monotony. I have found that doing this also has resulted in an increase my speed when I do just straight running. Keep up the good work!
