More Wellness in My Life #13
By Life Breath Present on August 01, 2014
Each Friday I'm talking about changes I'm making in my life towards more wellness. After all, wellness and health isn't just about going to the gym. It's not just about physical fitness, it's also about lifestyle changes or improvements. It's about overall wellness and how I'm working to achieve more of it in my life.
So, remember that all-natural oil-based product I mentioned last week? Well, it worked absolute wonders. Ab-So-Lute wonders! My hands are so incredibly improved. If you hadn't witnessed me living with the serious eczema outbreak from the last few months you maybe wouldn't believe me, but my hands are so soft and smooth now. They feel close to how they felt pre-pregnancy! The way I had gotten used to my hands feeling the last few years. I am just in awe! Complete and utter awe that this product worked as well and as quickly as it did! I honestly, am so pleased with this product I can't even believe it myself. What's the product you wonder?
Shea Moisture's Raw Shea Butter Chamomile and Argan Oil Baby Eczema Therapy with Frankincense and Myrrh.
Guess what, it only cost $9.99 on their website! (I bought it at a local CVS though for a dollar more :sadness:)
What are the ingredients you ask? Here's the label:
Raw Shea Butter, Cocoa Seed Butter, Mango Seed Butter, Olus Oil, Evening Primrose Oil, Castor Seed Oil, Jojoba Oil, Safflower Oil, Coconut Oil, Argan Nut Oil, Aloe Vera, Natural Wax Blend (Carnuba, non-GMO Soy), Avocado Oil, Rosehip Seed Oil, Olive Oil, Vitamin A, Vitamin E, Honeysuckle Flower and Japanese Honeysuckle Flower Extract, Chamomile Oil, Frankincense Oil, Myrrh Extract
Each of these ingredients (and a Big reason I plucked it off the drugstore shelf to try) have such amazing health benefits and so they're really great to have around (or at least know about). Plus, many of the ingredients are certified organic! Aren't you amazed about this product, too! If you have or know someone with eczema, they should try this product. It can be bought on their lovely website Shea Moisture. I just want to note that I love everything about this company, from the modest start in Sierra Leon to the causes they support and way in which they stay true to their mission and their ingredients.
(I'm not an affiliate, nor was I paid for this post, I'm just super excited and pleased with the product and company.)
Now, on to other topics. We are continuing to purchase local, grass-fed, non-hormone, non-antibiotic treated meat and eggs from a local farm, as well as just a bit from whole foods. We are currently deciding if we're going to keep purchasing the cream milk from Whole Foods, opting to go with something else. I'll keep you posted as that decision unfolds. This week, I even made ground lamb pupusas, after coming across the recipe on My Silly Little Gang. They were divine! And such a great new-to-me recipe to use ground meat or even shredded chicken!
Based on that last paragraph, you probably noticed that we're eating some breads lately. Yes. It just happened and I'm aware of it. I've told myself it's because I have a bag of flour that needs to be used up, which is only partially true. The other part of that truth is that I'm worrying we're missing something and I haven't quite figured out how to fix that, so some flour/bread products (all homemade) in the last week. Thought I'd add that, for honesty's sake.
I also weighed myself this week, out of curiosity. I'm 147. Now, my ideal weight is around 135. BUT, I'm not sure if I'll ever be able to get there and be healthy again (nursing boobs and extra skin aside). Even if I do, am I going to get there just to work on getting pregnant again one day? Probably not. Besides, honestly, I haven't been that size in like 7 years or so. I'm holding on to that number for some reason. Maybe because I was pretty fit and lean back then, but I also had a different body. Apparently, I look pretty great these days and I'm certainly not unhealthy, so it might be high time I pick a different "goal weight" to hang on to. What do you think?
Do you have a goal weight you're hanging on to, but realistically probably should give it up? What changes are you making in your life and/or diet to improve your personal wellness?
