Motherly Advice

Fingertip I hold these truths to be self-evident, that all parents and kids are not created equally, but are wholly individual in personality and style. Regardless of these differences, the basic needs of love, patience and support remain constant. Here are the weekly affirmations, tips and reminders. Unless otherwise noted, these are entirely my opinion. Take them with a grain of salt, or not!

Do not go where the path may lead. Go instead where there is no path and leave a trail.

~Ralph Waldo Emerson

I have always liked this quote. To me, it applies to life in general, but also specifically to education. You do not have to accept something simply because that is the way it has always been done. Where would our society be if no one ever challenged the established regime? If a certain school, teacher or classroom is not working for your child, advocate for your child, suggest a change and/or find a better fitting educational environment for your child. After all, your child's educational experience will greatly shape who he or she will become.
