Movie in the Park
By marykathleen on July 13, 2012
Last night I headed over to Churchill Park in Bucktown to meet up with some friends for a Movie in the Park. The city of Chicago has been doing this for quite a few years now and I am sure there are other cities that do it as well. I used to go to it quite often when Movies in the Park were in Grant Park downtown. This was my first time at a neighborhood park and I'm glad I had the opportunity to take advantage of it.
Movies in the Park are free and people bring chairs and blankets, snacks and quite often wine or other beverages. The movie last night was the Wizard of Oz, which is actually my all-time favorite movie. It appeals to kids and many grown-ups of all ages and it certainly has stood the test of time considering it was made in 1939. I just love it. Of course I have seen it about a million times. Movies in the Park may not be the best venue for seeing a movie for the first time, as people are usually talking a little, kids are running around, etc. But it sure is a great activity for anyone in the city. If you are in Chicago and want to take advantage of it, here is the link for more info.
Eeeek, not the most flattering angle, but that is a picture of myself and my friends Liz, Christina and Lauren at the movie. Good times! I think I will have to start going to more of these.
Anyway, I am thrilled that it is Friday (though it is Friday the 13th--superstitious much?) Hope you have a great weekend!
