Today is Family Literacy Day (at least it is in Canada), and though I am still recovering, we managed to have our own little Family Literacy Day
gathering. Obviously, as an English teacher, literacy is a cause that
is near and dear to my heart. I can't teach the world to sing in
perfect harmony (I can't even teach myself to do that... and really,
you don't want to hear me try), but I can teach the world to read (or
at least anyone who will let me). I am inspired by all of the great
storytellers and all of the wonderful stories that are out there. As a
parent I know that I am my child's first storyteller and that is both
an incredible honour and a huge responsibility.
