In the next 6 weeks there will be several days (in addition to the weekends) that school aged children will be home.  Between Thanksgiving and winter breaks, there is a lot of down time for kids.  Sure, there could be family visits and dinners or new toys with which to play, but there also will be time when parents are searching for something to do outside of the house.

If you live near Dover, Delaware, you are in luck!  My husband recently took two of our four children to the Biggs Museum of American Art and found it to be perfect for the kids.  With free admission and a collection that wasn't overwhelming, it was a perfect family activity.

If you don't live near Dover, look for other museum bargains.  Many art museums offer free admission on Saturday mornings and/or school vacation weeks.  When you need to get the kids out of the house for a while, without spending a lot (or any) money, give a museum a try.  Not only will it be something different, but it also will give your child an enriching experience.
