I have pretty normal skin. It’s not too dry most of the time (as long as I use some sort of lotion on it), nor is it oily. Fortunately, I’m not prone to major breakouts or allergic reactions (although I do get the occasional evil zit that I just want to squeeze the bejeezus out of, but that’s probably another post).
I live in Florida, and at the moment walking outside is basically like walking into the biggest furnace you can fathom. And so, for my daily moisturizer, I need something that’s light, absorbs quickly (you know, before I sweat it right back out), and has some UV protection. I think I’ve found it in the Olay Complete All Day Moisture Lotion with SPF 15.
I use it after showering or washing my face in the morning and again after washing my face in the evening, and it keeps my skin soft without making it oily at all. Occasionally I get a patch of dry skin, which I dab with a really heavy moisturizer, like Eucerin, but otherwise, my face stays perfectly moisturized all day long, and even when I sweat (because I do, every time I step outside), I don’t feel like there’s lotion running all down my face.
It works beautifully with my make-up, as well. If I'm feeling fancy, I'll use a liquid foundation, and the lotion doesn't interfere with it AT ALL. Most days, however, I go with light coverage, using a powder foundation, and my face is moisturized just enough to give a bit of hold to the powder without causing any uneven coverage or streaks.
What makes it even better is that it’s not terribly expensive. It costs $10.99 at drugstore.com (but I’ve found it for less in drugstores near me), and it lasts for months and months. There’s just a light scent – it’s very fresh and clean, and not too girly for a guy to use if you have a product stealing man in your bathroom. I use the formula for normal skin, but they also make one for those with oily/combination skin that has quite a few fans. Seriously, read the reviews -- that product is getting some loooove.
