My daily face fix: Olay Complete All Day Moisture Lotion
by kgseymour

I have pretty normal skin. It’s not too dry most of the time (as long as I use some sort of lotion on it), nor is it oily. Fortunately, I’m not prone to major breakouts or allergic reactions (although I do get the occasional evil zit that I just want to squeeze the bejeezus out of, but that’s probably another post).

I live in Florida, and at the moment walking outside is basically like walking into the biggest furnace you can fathom. And so, for my daily moisturizer, I need something that’s light, absorbs quickly (you know, before I sweat it right back out), and has some UV protection. I think I’ve found it in the Olay Complete All Day Moisture Lotion with SPF 15.

I use it after showering or washing my face in the morning and again after washing my face in the evening, and it keeps my skin soft without making it oily at all. Occasionally I get a patch of dry skin, which I dab with a really heavy moisturizer, like Eucerin, but otherwise, my face stays perfectly moisturized all day long, and even when I sweat (because I do, every time I step outside), I don’t feel like there’s lotion running all down my face.

It works beautifully with my make-up, as well. If I'm feeling fancy, I'll use a liquid foundation, and the lotion doesn't interfere with it AT ALL. Most days, however, I go with light coverage, using a powder foundation, and my face is moisturized just enough to give a bit of hold to the powder without causing any uneven coverage or streaks.

What makes it even better is that it’s not terribly expensive. It costs $10.99 at drugstore.com (but I’ve found it for less in drugstores near me), and it lasts for months and months. There’s just a light scent – it’s very fresh and clean, and not too girly for a guy to use if you have a product stealing man in your bathroom. I use the formula for normal skin, but they also make one for those with oily/combination skin that has quite a few fans. Seriously, read the reviews -- that product is getting some loooove.

I use this too!

And, in a strange twist, it was my husband who suggested it.  I've been messing around with lotions for years, and he's always stuck with his Olay with sunscreen.  I have dry, sensitive skin (yet prone to zits, fun fun) and it seems very neutral on my face - no sudden breakouts or undue drama.

The Circus is in town!

count me in as a user too!

I love this product.  I get mine at Costco, where I believe it costs me 14 dollars for 2 bottles!  Yeah!   It feels just as good as a more expensive moisturizer, and I trust the name brand too...

Too hot to bother

Hi Kristen - living on the coast of West Africa where humidity hovers around 85% year round...it's difficult to imagine putting anything remotely creamy on my face in the mornings, knowing I'm about to walk out into a complete sauna... There is a Clinique product which hydrates instead of moisturizing, is a bit more expensive, but suits the hotter climates. It's a gel that absorbs quite quickly and you're not left with slicks pouring down your face in the mid morning!

I will get home and look at the name and post it later...

By the way - can you post the link to your blog?

Cheers

Sounds like a good idea

Thanks Holli. That sounds really interesting, and I'd totally be up for trying it.
