My First (Comedy) Writing Credit!!!
By Melissa Logsdon on July 18, 2014
'Keeping the Peace' is a comedy about a lazy yet effective hostage negotiator. My friend/writing partner/comedian Sebastian Fort not only came up with the idea and most of the script, but also played the lead character while living in L.A. a few years ago. I consulted on the script and even came up with the name of the show. When it was time to shoot the pilot, I excitedly flew out to L.A. from Cleveland one very icy and snowy morning in January of 2013. The temperature was 7 degrees when I left Cleveland and about 67 degrees when I arrived at LAX a few hours later. It's a rough life sometimes but someone's got to do it and I would prefer if it'd be me!
I was given the role of Attorney Reese, who gets taken hostage by a disgruntled ex-con who comes to her office for revenge. Nothing says, 'Hey mom and dad, look at me on tv' and what they see is a man holding a gun to your head! The parts I have played....oh the craziness. But we could be here all day with that so I shall proceed. We only actually shot a portion of the pilot due to lack of funding but let me tell you, we knocked it out of the park! Sebastian really did a great job and I can only hope one day he (me, cast, crew) gets the recognition so desperately needed to actually finish filming the rest of the pilot.
So don't wait another second.....check out 'Keeping the Peace' because frankly, I'm not getting any younger and neither are you. Thanks! Melissa
