My New Entry Way Complete

The Bench Won Out

At last it is complete - I made the final touches today by installing hooks for the light fixture.  I had gone back and forth with deciding on whether or not to place a console table at the entry way or a bench.

I initially bought a console table (off craigslist) but once I got it home it was entirely too large for the space. FYI - measure first. Not to worry... I found a place for it.

So I ended up purchasing the David Best bench from a production designer for $50 who threw in a second bench for free! Which I've found a place for as well. I figured the bench was a better use of the space and much more functional.

I brought the bench home and began staining it the same as the stairs I just completed.

Here's the final outcome.

The light fixture is a DIY that I made right in Home Depot with the help of Manuel. I purchased a mini pendant kit for the light socket and wire portion, bought a lamp shade and then wired the wire from the kit to an adapter socket thingy (Manuel did this part) and voila... a hanging pendant that I could plug into an outlet on the wall. Then I used to hanging hooks to create the swag.

The unofficial name for this staging area is called "Tristan's bench" since he uses it the most and quite honestly I did this to eliminate him sitting on the stairs and in my way.

So there you have it - my new entry way.

Take care now,
