My Son’s First Week In An Inclusion Class & Why I Was Ready To Pull Him Out

A week before school began, I learned that my son, who was starting Kindergarten the following week, was placed in an inclusion class. I learned this from a mom, an educator, whose child had the same teacher years before.  Not wanting to show my ignorance, I mouthed, “what does that mean?” to my teacher friend across the room the moment the other friend turned away.  I also called another friend who was becoming certified in Special Education hoping she could give me more to chew on.  I was not comfortable with this news and needed to learn more about this “inclusion thing.”  [Read more...]
