My Thoughts on Little House in the Big Woods
Last week, I re-read Little House in the Big Woods by Laura Ingalls Wilder for my 100 Book Challenge. It was about Laura Ingalls and her life in the woods around the 1870′s, somewhat auto-biographical. I thought it was a pretty good book because I just love reading about the lives of people that used to live in that era. I’m sure it was a lot of hard work because everything was done by hand. Wilder describes the chores everyone had to do but also the yummy dishes they got to eat and fun they had, sprinkled with anecdotes and music lyrics. My favorite song, something you are probably familiar with, was this one:
“Oh, Susi-an-na, don’t you cry for me,
I’m going to Cal-i-for-ni-a,
The gold dust for to see.”
I’d definitely recommend this book to readers young and old!
