My Vacation To Do List

Michelle Belle (she's 20) arrives on Thursday. My mom (who is not 20) arrives on Saturday. I have next week "off" though I will still be working off and on (no lectures, some of this stuff is important!) and this is the list (so far) of things that we plan to do. Oh, one thing to note, Michelle will be here for two weeks, my mother... err I don't know when she leaves but it won't be after a full two weeks. So some things will get done after mom goes home - but not a lot, since I don't have time off during the second week Michelle is here.

1) Sting at Ravinia on Sunday.

2) The silent movie thingy in Wilmette on Sunday.

3) Peter Paul and Not Mary at Ravinia on Tuesday

4) The B52s at Ravinia on Wednesday

5) We're making terrariums, which will probably entail a visit to Sprout Home Chicago.

6) My mother wants to go to a bookstore in Evanston. Can't remember which one.

7) Botannical Gardens if the Century Plant is blooming (and maybe if it isn't.)

8) Michelle would like to track down some Radical Cheerleaders.

9) Michelle wants to visit some food co-op, somewhere.

10) Michelle wants to track down the Bash Back people.

11) I think Michelle wants to also find the Food not Bombs folks and possibly some other Radical movement people.

12) Spunky Dunkers, Orange Brunch, Sarkis, some coffee shop in Evanston that may or may not be closed and I have no idea what other restaurants are on the hit list. (I was right, the coffee shop she wanted to go to closed last year or the year before. So long Cafe Express, you were a nice coffee shop. I'm sorry mom didn't get to visit.)

13) Some museum or another in Chicago that I can't remember (again) (you see a trend here right? I'm totally unprepared for this visit.) Oh just talked to her, Museum of Art (again) and she wanted Contemporary Art but I think I talked her out of that.

14) Mom wants to do an architecture walk but I think I talked her into the boat tour since she wanted to do water taxis. But then again, we may end up doing water taxis since she also wants to do the Sears Tower (and I don't care whether it's the Willis Tower now, that's a dumb name.)

15) Some walk around the Loop (G*d help us, I hope it's cool that day.)

16) Some Cityscapes tour (again, hello, weather!)

17) Morton Arboretum is also on mom's list.

18) I knew I forgot something... .Roller Derby!  (Chicago Roller Derby not happening and Milwaukee's was on Saturday night and mom was too tired to go Hopefully we can go on Michelle's next visit.)

I'm going to be glad to go back to work, aren't I?
