My Weight Loss Secret

Lately I've been struggling with middle-age weight loss. Problem is, I'm having a hard time balancing family and work life with working out. I'm not the type of woman to go on a diet. Running is the only thing that helps me burn fat with consistency. It's reliable. It's predictable. It involves no deprivation.
I burn a pound-and-a-half of fat every other week - or 3 pounds a month - if I do it consistently. But only if I do one long run a week with three or four other cardio workouts of 30 minutes or more. But, I need to be in shape enough to do 30 minutes of cardio a few times a week before even attempting long runs or I risk injury. When I have a good month or so of regular workouts, I start with a long slow run, working up from 4 or 5 or 6 miles to 9 or 10 or 11 miles. Even a 10-minute-mile pace is okay.
I know why it works. After about a half hour, your body has less blood sugar or glycogen to burn and starts burning fat.
The only thing is that there is a time commitment. Do I do it in the morning, before my husband goes to work? Do I work out at home with aerobic videos and calisthenics until I can get time to go to the gym or go for a run?
The unfortunate fact is that I haven't worked out in over a year and I'm 19 pounds over my natural weight. Clothes don't fit. I am rotating about seven outfits over and over. The hardest part is starting somewhere, anywhere, 30 minutes a day. For 19 pounds, if I start today, with a month to get into a normal fitness routine before doing long runs, I could get into shape by August 23. That seems like such a long time. That's six months away. But, it's possible. And at least by summer I should be in a lower size, with 10 lbs melted away!
