Unexpected resolutions

I'm trying a bit of an "editorial calendar" experiment over at This Journey.Mondays will be Musical Meditation Mondays and I'll share music that I find useful for meditation and recharging.Episode #1 is a little bit of a nod to Christian Orthodox Christmas - which is today, January 7. --- Not Fainthearted http://notfainthearted.com...more

12th Day of Christmas

It's the last day of Christmas! Hope yours was a Merry one. It was a little touch and go there for a couple of days, but I managed to post something every day this week. It's funny, but my stats show a spike early in the week and then it tapered down...even though I consistently posted something in the NaBloPoMo soup. Tomorrow is Epiphany and we'll take down the tree. Tonight, we watch the Vikings and the Packers. I might just drink the last of the egg nog (and rum?) and hum Christmas Carols....more

Scheduling posts tip

I thought I was being all cool to start working on a few posts for this month last week. I scheduled them in my Wordpress dashboard and kept refining them. You know, things like proof reading. This morning, I couldn't figure out why my Jan 2 post wasn't showing up. Turns out I scheduled it for Jan 2 2012. Computers. They only do what you tell them; not what you meant.(I adjusted the date so you can read all about my chicken burrito adventure here.)...more

2013 - time to try something new

2012 was a bag of mixed nuts as far as I'm concerned. There was a lot of really great stuff that happened; I had opportunities to travel, to make music, to coach leaders, to have lunch and happy hour with friends, to garden, to read and knit and even nap. ...more

I watched The Wedding

It was a great viewing party, but now I have to actually focus and do some work!--- Not Fainthearted http://notfainthearted.com...more

Now What?

This is day 3 of my No New Groceries challenge, wherein I attempt to live off the fat I’ve stored in my freezer and pantry. I'm pretty sure I'll bore myself silly if all I blog about for the next month is this No New Groceries thing. On the other hand, it's still fresh and new and I have a lot of "And another thing!" remarks to make. So here goes......more

Or, I need to relax a little! lol

Wait...What did I say?

This is day 2 of my No New Groceries challenge, wherein I attempt to live off the fat I’ve stored in my freezer and pantry. Perhaps I should have thought about this for a little longer. I mean really. Who starts a crazy project like this on a whim? And what kind of a lunatic does it in public by blogging it? (If you can call three people a public.) And what kind of a kook does this in the autumn? Isn’t this when we are biologically programmed to be storing food? You know, ensuring the survival of the clan through the long, cold winter? Seems like this could go against human nature somehow, doesn’t it? ...more

I've stopped buying groceries

No, I'm not crazy. And I haven't found a sugar daddy or moved to a commune. Yet. OK. Here's the deal. I think I have the Hoarder gene from my grandma. For me it manifests a little differently than it did for her (read: I don't have 247 sweaters and she did.) For me it's food.  And maybe office/school supplies. ...more

Be thankful and appreciate the good in life

This keeps coming up lately so it must be something I'm supposed to pay attention to. I saw my therapist yesterday. First time in over a year. Not because I didn't want (or need) to go in but because of financial reasons. Blah Blah Blah. Not the point here. Can I focus, please? OK. So aside from playing "Let's see if I can catch you up on a whole year in a little less than half an hour" so that I would have half a chance of squeezing some information out of the guy, it was a good visit. ...more
