Why I Joined Up With BlogHer for NaBloPoMo

NaBloPoMo, fun to say but how much fun is it to do? NaBloPoMo stands for National Blog Posting Month. It begins on the first day of November and your challenge is to post on your blog every day for 30 days. Though posting on your blog for 30 days sounds like someone ordered you the half pound Swiss burger when you're really more a junior single patty lover, you'll find that like with that first bite of the Swiss burger, 30 days of blogging is a surprisingly satisfying eat. ...more

Fancy and Handsome: What We're Wearing to #BlogHer15

"Put your tie on, Mommy! It's so handsome!" she yells from her room. Even though I just picked up, there are clothes all over the floor. Again. There are always clothes on the floor. Dresses, skirts that twirl, and there should be one pair of shorts in that pile somewhere, but we can never find that one approved pair of shorts. Her clothes don't look like mine. She's six. She's so fancy....more
Looking forward to seeing you both! more

5 Reasons to Start a Weekly Series on Your Blog

I'm a big fan of weekly series. I have two that I do on my blog. The first is the Friday Blog Roundup, and I've been writing this weekly post for almost 9 years. 9 years -- every week! It's simply a way to share some of the blog posts that affected me over the course of the week, and hopefully get a conversation going with others about them; like a mini book club for blog posts. ...more

9 Favorite Nursery Rhymes With New Clickbait Titles

Clickbait is everywhere. It's annoying as hell. So, logically, I felt that the best thing to do was to add some myself. I've taken the liberty of converting nine favorite nursery rhyme titles into click tempting teasers. Oh, and I added a bonus limerick just because. ...more

Beyoncé! Why I Need Her New ' 7/11' Video To Break the Internet

It's been a rough week.   Kim Kardashian's oily backside and everyone's reenactments of her Paper Mag photos are still trying to break the internet.  We're still waiting for a grand jury indictment announcement in Ferguson, where Gov. Jay Nixon has already issued a state of emergency and police are mobilizing.  ...more

Are Bloggers Only Writing for Other Bloggers?

If I post every day, do things on my blog change? If I post every day, do my numbers grow? By numbers we are talking engagement, followers, comments, and that ultimate Blogger-Heaven of Good Pagehits. Bloggers (including me) are trying to answer these questions for themselves during a time when we can find a lot of support from a community where others are also striving towards the same goals. We all hold hands and jump off the blogger-edge together. Thelma & Louise style. Sorta. Yet we are 10 days in to NaBloPoMo (give or take), and I find myself asking a BIGGER question: As bloggers, are we only talking to ourselves? ...more
