5 Awful Things That Happened to my Daughters in Summer Camp

I did something that totally pissed my kids off. I sent them to summer sports camp so I could work and try to make money to pay for their braces and college. That's right, I'm an asshole. After camp, when I got to the front of the pick-up line in my minivan, a 20-year-old counselor-in-training with crack-dilated eyes and green paint on his face dashed to my car, yanked my sliding door open and yelled, "Happy Leprechaun day! Who's your camper? WHO'S YOUR CAMPER???!" ...more

I’ve read posts from adults with spina bifida, and parents of children with spina bifida, who say that spina bifida doesn’t define them. I’ve also seen the other side of the coin, from parents who say that, indeed, spina bifida defines their children. ...more

Mommy? What Is Raping?

tippity tap tap tap *pause* tippity tap tap tapSo went the sounds of me Facebooking, hunched over the laptop while awkwardly standing up, one foot through the doorway and in to the kitchen so that I felt that I was successfully multi-tasking. And then came these words:"Mom? What's raping?"...more

Why I Didn't Share My Urinary Tract Infection on Social Media

Earlier tonight, I put on my casual-dress-professional-cold-weather attire and went to an exclusive preview tasting at a chocolatier. I sipped great wine, ate fine chocolate, and mingled with friends, old and new. We exchanged lighthearted conversation about our blogs, and weighed in on other recent events many of us have attended. I exchanged hugs, social kisses, and sincere thanks to the people who hosted and invited me. And I did it all with the utmost sincerity. Of that, you can be sure. ...more
