Sasha Obama is Not Ready for Facebook. Are Your Kids?

It may not be the most erudite periodical on the market, but every once in a while People magazine has an article that gives me pause. Recently it was a quote by the President and First Lady saying that Sasha is too young for Facebook. ...more

'Mad Men' Returns For Season Six: Wait, Was That It?

Well all the buildup for the season premiere of last night's Mad Men left me wondering...is this it? Two hours, and we're left knowing nothing more than what we knew when we left them at the end of Season Five. I don't know when I will ever get used to how underwhelming the Mad Men premieres are. The juicy stuff always comes mid-season. After six seasons, this shouldn't be a surprise to me, but Madison Avenue is almost exactly how it was when we left it months ago....more

Create a Vision Board to Help You Recognize Your Dreams

Spending a week in bed between the holidays with a sinus infection gives you a different perspective on things. All of the chores and tasks and obligations that “have” to get done go by the wayside. Christmas is over; thank goodness, because the body is not leaving the bed anytime soon. A shower feels like an impossible dream. When I’m feeling this badly, I can sleep 16 hours a day – spending much of the time drifting in and out of sleep – a few hours here, a few hours there....more

To be or not to be anonymous...

When I first started this blog I thought about keeping it completely anonymous. I wanted the freedom that anonymity afforded…freedom to write about anything and anyone without offending or insulting someone…freedom to talk about family issues and work issues without getting myself into trouble…freedom to post private details of my life without exposing secrets. Obviously, in the end I decided not to be anonymous, but some days I wish I’d decided differently. There are things that I’m dying to write about…to get opinions on…to vent and get off ...more

A Rock Star. Finally! Thanks to Mom's Fashion File at BlogHer'11

A pink carpet. A hundred onlookers. Cameras. And me, about to strut my stuff. I couldn't wait. It took me a long time to celebrate this, to own my beauty, to silence the inner critic, to become comfortable in my own skin. This was my time to shine. I spent most of my teens and 20s feeling insecure and unattractive and like I didn't fit in. I focused on my career, and in my 30s, met and married my husband. I had three kids (two at home), ran two marathons, and now, at age 42, I like who I am....more
