Fashion Industry, You're Fired.

Both music and fashion reside under an aging idea that they decide what is hot and what isn't. In reality, the big guns in both industries are severely out of touch with changing social climates. Old concepts don't hold true anymore. Runways don't decide beauty in clothes any more than they do in people, and people with normal average sizes have a harder and harder time finding clothes that are flattering/fitting because they are all designed for people considerably smaller....more

Challenge 2012: A Second-Hand Year

2012 is almost upon us and I know I am not the only one clinging to hope for the new year, desperately dreaming of the things that may come.  For me, the year holds exciting plans: moving in with my sister, travelling for clinical rotations for school, a white-coat ceremony where I get to finally feel like a doctor, and potentially even an engagement and wedding planning! (Shhh..at 26, this bloggirl is still a little superstitious).  ...more

The Classic Skirt

[Editor's note: Classic skirt styles always make their way back to the forefront of fashion and many times with a great retro feel to them. Beat the Back-to-School Shopping Blues!

It's that time of year again: school open house invitations are arriving in mailboxes, the smell of freshly sharpened pencils fills the air, and the newspaper is littered with back-to-school shopping ads.  Even though I live for the thrill of a great bargain, I will not be hitting the stores.  Except for a few notebooks and dry-erase markers, I will not be doing any back-to-school shopping. I finished my kiddo's clothes shopping months ago. Image Source: The Children's Place ...more

Happiness

The husband and I got into an almost heated discussion the other night. Back story: husband is a positive person, I try to be but sometimes I'm just not. I disagree.I do think "faking it til you make it" works for some, I also think some people do decide to be miserable and look for things to be sour about. But sometimes for some, I think it can be hard to actually be happy. ...more
