The Blue Car

A few weeks ago, my husband and I took our boys, Miles (5) and Spencer (3) to see Santa. We had put it off several times because it just seemed like a big ordeal, we knew it would be busy, and we just wanted it to be "right."...more

Do You Have the Cure for the Christmas Blahs?

*sigh* What on earth is wrong with me this year? I cannot get myself into the "Christmas spirit" (whatever that really means)! I started out well enough, getting our Christmas tree up the week after Thanksgiving, a perfectly respectable date for that activity. I decorated the rest of the house, even did some Christmas shopping with my friend that week, though most of the presents for my boys have been picked up over the past few months. We went to see Santa, saw a Christmas parade. But now that we're in Crunch Time (six until Christmas, people!), I just don't feel Christmasy!...more

Toys of the Past

I'm experiencing a raging case of nostalgia these days. If it's not news about The Babysitter's Club series coming out in e-book form, it's an upcoming sequel to Boy Meets World. Maybe it's the holidays and thinking about beloved toys from Christmases past, but I can't help myself....more

The Six Stages of a Child-Free Getaway

Over the weekend, my husband Brandon and I were able to escape travel without our two boys, Miles (4) and Spencer (2.5), and spent a few days in Asheville, NC while the boys had a great time at my parents’ home in Tennessee. Though we have sent the kids to Grandma and Grandpa’s house for various reasons before, this is the first time that we actually planned and went on a short trip alone, without our children or other friends....more

Hair's The Problem

I really thought we would be done with strange sleep issues by now. The boys are 4 and 2.5 years old and while we still deal with them coming to our bed each and every night, I didn’t think we’d still have a sleep problem like this....more

The Gross, Disgusting, Icky Trouble with Fall

Fall is absolutely my favorite season. I love the crisp air, the sights and smells, the anticipation of the holidays to come, the feeling that new things are coming. Ahhh, I love it. There's nothing better than sitting down with something pumpkin-flavored or enjoying something that smells or tastes like apples, whether you're watching your kids play outside or at a local high school football game. That being said, I do have one gripe with fall....more
