What #NMOS14 means to me and my 15 year old son

I have always been more of a Facebook person than a Twitter person.  I didn't often check my Twitter feed.  But for some reason last Tuesday, 12 August, I woke up and while laying in bed talking myself into getting up to make a cup of coffee I opened my Twitter and looked at the feed.  I saw that my 15 year old son "The Genius" had been tweeting....a lot....all night in fact....more

"Lesbian Bed Death": Fact or Fiction?

I first heard the term "Lesbian Bed Death" aka LBD when I was 18. Women would mention it and say that is was real, and it happened to women after they had been in monogamous relationships for many years.  I was never worried because I was quite young and was not in a monogamous relationship, so I didn't even give it a thought....more

It is a tragedy that we know more about Robin Williams' death than Michael Brown's death.

Robin Williams died on August 11, 2014.  He was a beloved actor and comedian.  The news was even more tragic because he apparently committed suicide and had a history of mental illness.  Depression is a terrible terrible disease.  What people show on the outside is not always how they present themselves, and depression kills....more

Moroccan Chicken with Tomato, Potatoes and Peppers

My garden as been growing like crazy this summer.  I am not sure if my thumb got greener over the winter, or I have just learned enough about gardening to be more successful, or it is just magic. I did do some things differently this year: I made the garden bigger, I paid more attention to the last frost and planted 4 weeks after the last one, I used organic compost, and Karol built me a garden "box" complete with chicken wire to keep out critters....more

Keith Urban Raise 'Em Up Tour Virginia Beach. What an amazing night!

Karol and I have seen Keith Urban perform 4 times.  Our very first date was to a Keith Urban concert.  We would ride around in my car with the sun roof open singing Keith Urban songs together even before we were a couple.  "Our" song was Love Somebody Like You by Keith Urban.  So I suppose you could say he is part of the bedrock of our relationship....more

What I did last weekend....AKA I thought I was going to die.

Is BlogHer still the place for small blogs?

I have been with BlogHer since 2010.  I remember submitting the application with my then blogging partner.  We were so nervous.  She was a HUGE Pioneer Woman fan, and adored everything Ree Drummond.  She found BlogHer by reading PW, and told me we should apply to BlogHer to have our blog published there.  She wasn't sure she would be accepted by herself as she was a homeschooling blog, but thought that my GLBT emphasis would help....more

50 Shades of I Don't Care

Okay, I have a confession to make: I NEVER read 50 Shades of Gray.  Yep, I just googled it and realized it is 40 Shades of GrEy, not GrAy. See, I know NOTHING about these books.  According to Wikipedia it is a trilogy, and has sold over 100 million copies worldwide....more
