Getting In-Touch with My “Inner Masculine” Side

I am a woman born with all the obvious physical anatomy traits to qualify me as “female.” And I have always liked all things considered “feminine”: pastels and pinks, soft sheets, sexy lingerie, long hair, make-up, [gaudy] jewelry and high heels, tight-fitting dresses and pants, short-shorts and short skirts. And yet there are things considered “manly” that I have in many ways already dabbled in. So why not then dare to get more in-touch with my “inner masculine” side, even if it is considered “taboo” and frowned upon by some today....more

Dana, we hardly know you!

Gray hair comes with entitled privileges. I've lived long enough to tell everybody what I think, whether my listeners are receptive or not.Now being older, youngsters fifty-nine years and below, have to be polite and don't dare get up and walk away when I speak to them. And so, with that fully acknowledged, you will find yourself in another valuable BlogHer Peep Post....more

Gen-Y Women: Ready To Save the World?

An open letter to the next generation.I’m old. My generation - either Gen X and the Boomers depending on which source you use – isn’t going to save the world, despite the fact that we’re going to keep trying. Sheryl Sandburg said it best in her Barnard Graduation address in 2011, the numbers just aren’t there for us. It’s up to you, Gen Y....more

Women are Good Investors

In the ongoing hunt for evidence to understand The Woman Effect Manifesta, I’ve discovered that the Return on Women (WOR) is really high! I've been delighted to discover that women have excellent investment instincts! For those of us with entrepreneurial instincts, this is particularly important, whether we exercise them in home-based or small businesses, or whether we’re corporate high-fliers. ...more

Buh-Bye, Superwoman! Celebrating the Holidays Like a Real Woman

Ever ask yourself why Wonder Woman never made it as a feminist icon? Because she’s not real – she’s The Impossible Woman. 2011 is the year I gave up on Woman Impossible and fell in love with real women, and my transformation was final last week when – in the midst of the work/holiday stress - I cancelled my annual-for-20-years Christmas party. Want a holiday gift for yourself? Give up on being a Superwoman and fall in love with yourself. ...more
