Is fitting in unhealthy?

I'm a go with the flow kind of girl.  I don't like to cause waves, I don't like to be the center of attention. I just like to do my thing and let other people do their thing! But there comes a point when not wanting to be the center of attention gets in my way. I get nervous when all eyes are on me. But at this point in my life, I'm wondering, is going with the flow unhealthy sometimes? Why can't I let myself shine so that others can see? ...more

Changing the Discussion with Our Little Girls

Wouldn't it be great if we could start changing the way girls view themselves -- before they even know how they should view themselves? Think about the last time you met a (cute!) little girl and said, "Gee, what beautiful eyes you have!" Or any variation thereof. What if you had said, "Hi, you seem happy today! What’s going on?" That's what Margot at ReelGirl suggest we do, along with a few other suggestions, to help our girls learn, from a young age, that they're more than their looks. ...more
