Janna Wong Healy was born and raised in Los Angeles, California, attended local public schools and earned both her undergraduate and graduate degrees from USC (in English and Professional Writing).
She spent her entire life around the written word. She has edited books and written magazine articles on a variety of topics and also worked in the film industry on such movies as "Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan" and "The Day After." In addition, she spent years as a story analyst for studios and production companies and wrote more than 150 menu decks for movies and television series for Universal Studios Home Entertainment. She is a featured blogger on Blogher.com and Boise Sports and Entertainment Network and is also an Adjunct Professor of Business Communication in USC's Marshall School of Business.
In addition to her professional experiences with the written word, Janna continues to work on her own creative endeavors. She has been a member of several prestigious writing workshops, including the David Henry Hwang Writers Workshop through East West Players and the Playwright's Kitchen Ensemble through the Coronet Theater. Her play, "Sweet and Sour," was a Top 10 Finalist in the Theatre Mu New Playwrights Competition and short stories from her collection, "A Life in Yellow-Gold," were performed by The New Short Fiction Series in its inaugural "Emerging Voices" program.
Janna's experiences growing up in LA during the '60s and '70s in a traditional Chinese family inform her writing and serve as the basis for many of her stories. A collection of these adventures served as the basis for the novel she published on Amazon Kindle called "Mariana Wong's Summer of Love."
She recently published her second book to Amazon Kindle entitled "Let's Get Lost."
