Woman Up

Recently a couple items in the news have caught my eye, and my thoughts/feelings about these particular items has been such that I wanted to write a little something about them. Pardon my rant....more

Welcome Back, Kotter

So I knew things were going to bad this season when I saw the preview for the Target Juniors fashion lineup (okay, I didn't really see a preview - I just saw it in the store - whatever). I suddenly had flashbacks to my days as a charm-bracelet-wearing punk goddess in big shirts, leggings, and jelly shoes. Someday when I actually hook up a scanner to my computer, I'll have to share the glory that is my 2nd (3rd?) grade picture. Just know that whatever wait there is before I post it, it will be truly worth it....more

Raise High the Roof Beam

I'm sure this will come as a huge shock to you all, but I absolutely love, love these. And in case anyone was wondering, I'm especially particular to the Catcher in the Rye cover. And no, I'm not a rebellious teenager who carries this book around as my bible....more

The Sickness

Well, this week has been a hell not entirely of my own making. I say not entirely because I take 50% credit for making the kid, give or take 5% depending on how he's acting....more

Book Drought

As many of you know, I'm a slightly-more-than-avid reader. I might have even been told to "put the book down and watch some TV, woman." Once we had Aedan, my book time became more limited, and when it's a choice between TV and reading, I almost unequivocally choose reading. To give you an idea of my appetite, I generally read between two and three books a week, and since I only generally read between 8 - 10 p.m....more

Wow, I'm really glad I posted about this - these are all great suggestions. I'll have to try ...more

Geek Wars

When Sean and I first started living together, we each had our fair share of electronic equipment that we brought into the relationship. At that time, most of it was stereo equipment, although we also both had cell phones and he had a computer. Oh, and don't forget the video games. While I've always been a bit of a tech geek, Sean's knowledge and geekiness far outweighed mine at the time. He was on cell phone 10 or 11 at that point, while I was on cell phone 1 - and I had just quit sharing one with our dear friend Valdez (hard to believe we were able to share one of these at one point)....more

Kristendom's Guide to Social Media

Recently I was having lunch with my former supervisor, and we were discussing the difficulty of "teaching" people how to use social media, especially in a professional way. With the rise in popularity of social networking sites, the amount of information people share (and how they share it), has changed drastically, and it seems like there should be some sort of formula for what to share when, or how to use social media for your company....more

Troublemaker, Part II

Maybe it's a bit early for a sequel to my last post, but after bemoaning the trials and tribulations of parenthood, I wanted to share my evening with Aedan tonight....more

Troublemaker

There can be few things so embarrassing or troubling in a parent's life as being called into the Principal's office. If you thought it was bad as a kid, it's nothing like being the so-called adult in the relationship and still not getting it right....more

The Art of the Story

Recently I finished a selection of short stories by Margaret Atwood, Bluebeard's Egg. First I'll just say that if you are an Atwood fan, and you haven't read this, I highly recommend it. But to get to the rest of my post......more

Is that when I see her in person and hear her read from her own stories, or just talk, I'm ...more
