I Don't Care About Your Diet or Your Extra Five Pounds

It's that time of the year when everyone is abuzz with New Year's resolutions. They include "lose weight," "exercise more," "get healthy," and a million others in between. I'm not against resolutions, but what I do hate to see is an unrealistic attitude and approach on the losing weight one -- and the biggest offenders are women. ...more

Sex After Baby: Do You Set a Minimum Amount?

Let's talk about sex after babies -- because it's an important topic for moms and couples. Getting on the same wavelength regarding expectations and energy can be difficult. I think the approach that Mother of Ambition took is interesting. Do you have a minimum number of times a week? ...more

Don't Stop Believin', Baby

I've noticed that Tink's pants are getting a little shorter. Her long sleeves are starting to creep up above her wrists. It happens when you have kids. You've no more gotten in the door with a new back-to-school wardrobe, and they've already gone up a size. But, this. This is different. Because she's not just growing. She's growing UP. And clothes aren't the only thing she's about to outgrow. It's Christmas. And I feel like I've been punched in the gut. Because I have started to realize...she's about to outgrow Santa....more

Do You Call Your Partner Mom or Dad?

Before I had kids, I thought it was stupid that husbands and wives referred to each other as Mom and Dad. I refused to do it for quite some time... until our oldest son referred to my husband by his first name. Standing at the stop of our steps, yelling for my husband -- by name -- I changed my tune that day. Two Tiny Blue Lines recalls thinking her husband's grandparents were silly for calling each other by such names long after their kids were grown and gone -- but now she does it too. What about you? ...more

Most Embarrassed Mom: A Woman Offered to Feed My "Starving" Child

Kids are lovely. Kids are great. Kids are embarrassing. If you've never been embarrassed by your kids in public just yet, you've either got one coming or you're lying. Misguided Mommy recently had an embarrassing moment that involved her "starving" child and a nosy-but-good-intentioned woman who wanted to help. I would have died -- but not until I gave my child "the look." What's your most embarrassing in public moment with your kids? ...more

Tie Dye Nails: Manicure Tutorial

Hey, y'all! I'm really excited about today's tie dye manicure and I hope y'all like it too. I did my very first video tutorial, for these tie-dye nails that use the needle drag technique. I'm really proud of how it came out and I hope you find it helpful, and go out and do tons of tie-dye manicures. First, the nails. SWAK: Do You Kiss Your Kids on the Lips?

There was a discussion on a forum awhile back about whether or not parents kiss their kids on the lips. I was shocked by how many mothers reacted in disgust saying things like, "No! My lips are for my husband only!" as if kissing on the lips was a purely romantic thing. But I got to thinking that if you weren't raised kissing your own parents on your lips, then you probably wouldn't do the same with your own kids. My first reaction was: Some parents don't kiss their kids on the lips? And the second one was: And some people romanticize the act of kissing to the point of exclusion?...more

Are you happy?

There is this individual that I used to work with and we came to know each other quite well.  Inevitable we shared a lot of our life philosophies, values as well as our parenting experiences with each other. Then the day came and for whatever reason might be, we are no longer part of the circle. –We are no longer in touch.  Funny thing was, I dreamt about this person last night and the one thing I remember vividly from my dream was, my question, “Are you happy?” – I found this very intriguing! ...more
