Star Rockers began writing music and poetry as a child growing up in the farmlands of Illinois. Her education and travels eventually led her to the rainy Pacific Northwest and the Puget Sound island she calls home. A mix of these two regions deeply informs her music, combining Midwestern folk with the indie rock sensibilities of Seattle and the Olympic Peninsula.
Previously, Star was the founder and editor of the literary magazine the strange fruit and in 2006 released her debut album Beloved On Earth (available from CDBaby.com and iTunes.)
Star is currently writing the blog Running High, which chronicles how she uses running as a means to stay sober. She manages the online community The Running High Club, where runners who are recovering addicts gather to discuss their training, upcoming races, and struggles to maintain sobriety.
Star also works as Nonfiction Editor for Seattle’s literary journal Crab Creek Review. She spends all her free time with her husband, photographer and scientist WD Flitter, & their son Mr Nibs.
