I am Not Crazy!

Before I begin, let me state that this is not easy for me to write. Admitting what I am about to is probably the second hardest thing I've ever had to do, but it is my hope that it will shine some light for someone else in a similar situation. This will not be funny, light-hearted, or possibly even enjoyable to read, but it is the truth and how I live my life every single day....more
@Mama in the Middle That is my hope: that someone else can find the same strength I did. It's ... more

The Best Part of Being a Mommy

As a mother, I have plenty to look forward to. From the basic milestones to the quirkier moments (i.e. poopy-fingerpainting), there is never a dull moment as a mommy. There are up and downs; times when I piss my pants laughing and times when I just walk away shaking my head in disbelief. And then there are those moments when my heart is forced to swell to such inconceivable proportions -- moments when no tantrum, diaper explosion, or teething marathon can even touch on the happiness my child has brought me. Today, held one of those instances....more

MTV's Teen Mom Falls Short, Bloggers Step Up

Newsflash: television doesn’t properly depict the life of a teen mom. I know, shocking, right? If you’ve watched any reality television, you’re aware that episodes only give us a glimpse into the heavily edited “real” reality. Teen Mom, a spin-off of MTV’s 16 & Pregnant follows original “cast member” moms through their babies’ first year. It’s kind of train-wreck-y, kind of interesting and a world away from most young moms’ experiences with parenting. ...more

Babies Don't Hate: How My Son Showed a Stranger Love

There are days (and nights) when I could happily give Piggle back to the circus he evidently came from -- the past 24 hours, being a perfect example of this, but then there are also those moments when he completely blows me out of the water. It’s times like that when I realize how amazing he is and how lucky I am to be his mommy. I’ve been teaching the boy sign language since day one....more
 @JennaHatfield Thank-you! I like to think so, too....when he's not teething! more

Beating the Loneliness of Staying at Home

Being a stay-at-home mom has its perks. You get to spend all day, every day with your child(ren), you can nap when they do, and you have no legitimate reason -- beyond not making yourself gag -- to shower regularly. It seems like the perfect gig! No major obligations (besides the obvious of keeping your kid(s) alive), and pants are optional. The downside to all of that: loneliness....more

Stephen King Has Nothing On This

Seven o'clock in the morning: the usual Piggle wake-time. Generally speaking, our mornings are fairly routine. Breakfast, poop, play, snack, poop....you get the point.I thrive on schedules and ordered chaos. I don't like when a wrench is thrown into my otherwise monotonous day. Now that I think about it, though, I probably should just toss out my to-do lists and agenda. As we all know, luck is never on my side. This morning is a perfect example of this....more
