The Death of Robin Williams, And What Suicide Isn't

I was coming home from a long day of working when I saw the news on Twitter. Today, probably sometime this morning, Robin Williams, beloved American actor, passed away in his California home. The coroner suspects that he committed suicide, probably from asphyxiation. ...more

We have all been there. Or, more accurately, not been there. We have missed a soccer game, an important day at school, a key doctor appointment for a sick parent. Or we have had to make impossible choices: sending a feverish child to school, fingers crossed he won't get worse, so you can go to work; putting off doctor appointments you know you need because you don't know how to fit them into your work schedule; going back to work just weeks after your baby is born because your family simply cannot afford to go without your salary....more

10 After-Baby Tips for Husbands Everywhere

When I become a first time mother, I felt stressed, tired, sleep deprived, and frustrated. I just felt overwhelmed while my husband was well-rested, energetic, and relaxed. My husband would tell me, "You didn't ask me," or "You need to let me know if you need a break." ...more

Death of a Reluctant Lesbian - Ode to my mother

I said goodbye to my motherʼs physical form five months ago exactly - ironically today is also Gay Pride Parade day in NYC.   It's a double anniversary of sorts, as Mama passed on another very auspicious occasion, my sonʼs 11th birthday.   Despite not having parade kind of energy today, I still wanted to do something to honor my mother, and our family....more
