An Open Letter of Love to All Moms

Dear new mothers and soon-to-be-mothers and maybe even mothers who have been mothers for a long damn time, I’ve decided to write you all a letter based on things I’ve learned since becoming a mother. I have four children; the oldest is 10, and the youngest is 18 months old. Although I haven’t been a mother as long as many other mothers, I think I’ve earned a place to be able to share some advice that should help you not only be a better mother but perhaps will also bring you some inner peace....more

9 Bloggers Coming to A Bookstore Near You

Do you remember back a few years ago, when a blogger getting a book deal was pretty much unheard of, and when it did happen it was major news? Bloggers getting published doesn't always make the top of the news cycle anymore, so I gathered together some blogger publishing news for you. ...more

Calories: Please Don't Talk About Them When You're Seven

I've written before about how we tend to keep our kidlets a little sheltered.  They are five and seven and there's plenty of time for growing up. J. has been finding random videos of the girls when they were littler and they are so sweet and tiny, so precious and innocent, that they make me cry every time I watch them. He thinks it's weird that they make me cry, but they do. Almost to the point where it hurts to watch them....more

Weekend Menu Planning: Rethinking Spaghetti with New Options for Noodles

Mention spaghetti and most people probably think of red sauce, meatballs, and maybe some Parmesan cheese on top. Of course there's nothing wrong with that combination, but lately I've been seeing so many interesting ways to cook noodles that I thought I'd see if I could entice BlogHer readers to branch out in their spaghetti options. What seems newer than new these days is combining spaghetti with vegetables for pasta dishes that are ultra nutritious. If there's been a bit too much Halloween candy on the menu at your house, how about cooking one of these combinations over the weekend? ...more
