Dear Writers: Success Is Mattering to Somebody

If the writer I was six or seven years ago could have sat at my desk yesterday, snooped around in my email, spied my name on the spine of a hardcover book propped up between bookends, and discovered my writing in a stack of glossy magazines, she would have taken it all as evidence that I’d finally made it. When A Mother Loses A Child

The unimaginable happens. A mother loses a child. This happened just now. To Anna See who blogs at An Inch of Gray. And because we are all so connected, by our stories and our words and our electronics and our RSS feeds and Tweets, the news goes around like an electric shock, touching not only those who knew her, her family, her writing, but also spinning out to so many of those who didn't. ...more

But nobody died, which means that outsiders don't necessarily understand. So I keep living and writing and shopping for groceries and paying the bills and trying to pretend I am not grieving every day, every hour. ...more

I'll be sharing this one. What a moving piece of writing.

9 Bloggers Coming to A Bookstore Near You

Do you remember back a few years ago, when a blogger getting a book deal was pretty much unheard of, and when it did happen it was major news? Some of the most beloved books in my collection are by people whose blogs I read every day. It's no longer uncommon for me to head to the bookstore and recognize author's names from my feed reader. Bloggers getting published doesn't always make the top of the news cycle anymore, so I gathered together some blogger publishing news for you. ...more
