Choosing Limbo: What Do You Think of Undivorcing?

I wasn't freaked out; only intrigued. I mean, even marriages that end start from a place of love, and it makes sense that a marriage that ends amicably can be sustained with what amounts to a very complicated friendship. Not everyone seeks divorce and the closure it can bring to a union. This woman was free to date other people and pursue her own interests, her children had an easy transition between co-parenting homes, and her ex-husband-yet-still-husband had the aid he needed in order to live. They had a situation they made work. ...more

Hi there ladies I have a couple questions for those of you who have switched from Blogger to Wordpress.   1) I bought my domain name through Google and it switched right over for me. Will that be a problem?   2) Can you blog from your Blackberry or mobile device???? That is important to me!    3) About how much is it to get someone to make a layout for your page? I have done my header on my own but I would LOVE to have something a professional did!!!     Thanks ladies for  your help!

When Breastfeeding Is A Terrorist Act

When you think of getting stopped at the border or pulled aside by airport security, what sorts of violations do you think of? Drugs? Contraband sausage? Breast pump? Breast milk? Wait, what? Not those last two? Obviously, you're not Canadian, or haven't brought your lactating boobs to Canada. Because apparently, breast pumps and breast milk are, according to Canadian authorities, suspicious items that you can't just waltz across the border with. God, no. What if you were going to make a lacto-bomb with that stuff? The terrorists would win. ...more

Marriage? I Could Take It or Leave It. ("Leave It" Sounds Pretty Good.)

I've written a lot of posts about being single, and dating, and many related thoughts in-between. Lately I’ve been thinking about marriage -- but not because it’s suddenly on my personal radar. I just think it’s interesting that, rather than becoming pro-marriage as I get older (and subsequently closer to a “marrying age”), my long-standing views on the subject just become more reinforced in my mind. ...more

Rape "Prevention"

Back in November 2008, Amanda Hess at The Sexist, a Washington City Paper blog, addressed a male blogger who wrote a "brilliant" treatise called, “Advice 4 Women: How to NOT Get a ‘Deserved Raping.’" As Amanda (and all the people who left comments on her post) already addressed the troubling aspects of this "helpful" advice, I'll not got over it again. However, I thought about the idea of how to avoid being raped (whether "deserved" or not), and I realized there is only one sure way to do so: ...more

I surely can not be the only one!!!

Okay ladies I am a Navy wife of a man who is not going to be home much within the next year. This poses a problem to my family, well the kids and I!   I have a 4 year old and a 2 year old that I want to cook and make healthy quick and easy dinners for, this is really hard without making so much that I could feed the neighbors kids every night.    My daughter does not like anything remotely spicy and my son does not like bread. That is pretty much it so far!

My paranoia rears its ugly head: choosing a babysitter

My husband and I became parents through adoption:  we brought our daughter Alex home as a newborn from the hospital.  However, unlike most parents who have the luxury of some paid maternity or paternity leave when they bring home their little ones, the company we both worked for didn't give maternity leave to adoptive parents.  Therefore our need for a babysitter came fast and furious:  after two weeks of vacation time off, we both had to go right back to work. ...more
