Where have all the letters gone?

2010 Ritual: Clean out the home office space. It gives me a sick feeling in the pit of my stomach to think about making a New Year's resolution because of the anticipation of when and why I will break it. There are so many worthy committments but this year promises to be a big year of change for me no matter what I think I can plan. My husband and I are selling the financial planning practice that we have been building for the last five years....more

Good luck--I miss letters and treasure the ones I have kept.

Crafting and Gardening Goals: Looking Back and Forward

Dead Tree Books VS EReaders

I keep seeing these blogs and such saying we should stop reading "dead tree books" and all buy ereaders, claiming that they're better for the environment and all that. Let me give you two reasons, people, that will not and cannot happen. #1: Migraine sufferers. ...more

I love me some dead-tree books!

Take Control of Your Blog: Learn HTML

If you're blogging and you don't know even a little bit of HTML, you're doing yourself a disservice. HTML (which stands for HyperText Markup Language) tells a web browser how to diplay text elements on your web page. Learning and using HTML is fairly intuitive; I think you'll find it very easy to learn. Knowing how to use HTML on your own web site or blog allows you to enhance your own posts and troubleshoot small issues that arise (like when your posts don't appear quite the way you intended). ...more

Big Change Chronicles: Moving Across Town, Remembering What Home Means

by Agnes KrupI discovered the first grey in my hair on Christmas day – several grey hairs, actually. Grey is not easy to detect in blond, but there they were, unmistakably. They looked quite beautiful (if I may say so myself): my head of straw given a quiet shine of distinction by just a dozen of strategically located individual hairs....more

Snap, crackle, pop goes this old house.

I just moved into a house that’s been around long enough (about a hundred years) to acquire its own quirks.  Or maybe the quirks were part of the original construction. This place was once just a single room and small bath. Over the years, owners added on, a room at a time.  We live north of San Francisco and after the quake of 1906, many people fled the city and settled into these small places that were intended to be used just for a few weeks in summer. ...more

I am not happy.  I made a monumental mistake for me, but I believe it's what is best for my son.  I can't go back and change it. There is no way.  ...more
