You Are the Pinterest Perfect Real Mom

You are that mother. You, right now, the mother wearing the shirt with stains on the shoulders, and your hair swept back, with the toddler on your hip in their pajamas and the preschooler watching Disney Jr. You, that mom, are the Pinterest perfect real mom. You, the mother sitting at home while your 16-year-old drives away, and the middle schooler works on homework, and you trying to balance a schedule that is much too full as you remember those days when they were little and loved Little People. You -- the tired, overwhelmed, joyful, nervous, worn-out, thankful, get-out-of-bed everyday mother. You go on the Real Board....more

Editor's note: Last year, we called for you to share your posts on the events of September 11, 2001. More than 200 bloggers responded. We're honoring this tradition again this year, and invite you to read these bloggers' stories and contribute your own. -- Julie We've seen a LOT of stories in the media about the 9/11 attacks on the World Trade Center, the Pentagon and United Flight 93. We've also seen, and maybe felt, that many of us are sick of the story in the media. ...more

Bad Mothering Lawsuit: What Will Your Kids Sue You For Someday?

I’ve seen some stupid lawsuits in my day. I mean, hello, coffee is hot. Unless it’s iced coffee, and then you might be in for a brain freeze if you drink it too quickly. (Consider this your warning.) However, a lawsuit out of Illinois by a pair of “grown,” adult children recently attempted to sue their mom for -- get this -- bad mothering. The judges eventually threw it out, for good reason, but now there’s a general feeling of, “Wait, that can happen?” ...more

Which Is More Inappropriate: My Son's Shirt or That Lady's Actions?

Fast forward to last weekend when Noah wore his King’s Island t-shirt to ride the coasters at Hershey Park here in Pennsylvania. While waiting in line, a random woman told him that he shouldn’t be wearing “a shirt like that.” Neither Dave or I was with him at the time, and he was confused. He asked her if she meant that it wasn’t appropriate because it was a King’s Island shirt and he was at Hershey Park. She replied, “No -- I mean something MUCH different.” And she walked away....more

I agree with Backpack Dad, this woman is way out of line. Even if it were inappropriate (which ... more
