My First Triathlon

I've been wanting to write this race report for a month now, especially because I don't want to forget a single detail of the day. My first half-Iron distance triathlon (not to mention my first triathlon of any distance) was a magical, wonderful experience. I started to say that it was the best day of my life, but then a few other days popped into my head that are better than any ole race...like the day I married Kyle (or the day he proposed)....more

Weekly Recap and a Cowboys Game

This week I had a 10k race planned for Saturday, so I wanted to take the week pretty easy so my legs would be ready to go. However, this wasn’t a big goal race, so I wasn’t willing to do an all-out...Continue Reading ...more

Doing the Little Extras

In case you hadn't noticed, I spend a good bit of my time working out. It's obviously not all I do...I also teach, host/co-lead a Bible study, take courses for my Masters, study God's Word, maintain a healthy happy marriage, and all the other every day things we all do. I'd say for all of us, it can be pretty difficult to fit in everything we want to. Cuts and compromises need to be made. However, lately I feel like I've been making some cuts in my triathlon training that are not necessary and that I am not happy about......more

Achieve the Impossible

Let’s talk about the mental aspect of running for a bit here, shall we? I think it’s really easy to overlook the importance our mind plays in endurance athletics. We all know you need to train hard, log lots of miles, eat nutritious food, and foam roll to become stronger/faster/better. But it is so easy to forget that our minds can hold us back big time.Wednesday morning I had a tempo run planned. Tempo runs are always a...Continue reading here....more

{Weekly Training Recap}: So many fun visitors

What a week! There was so much going on, mostly all fun with just a bit of stress. It all affected my workouts a little bit, but was totally worth it. Before, I go into the recap of my workouts, I’m going to give you a little peak into my awesome week. The good: Kyle’s fam-bam came to visit. His parents, 2 sisters, and niece all braved the 12 hour drive (that turned into a 16 hour drive because of a flat tire) down to see us for a... To keep reading, click on over to my blog at...more

Love the Run You're With

While I was training for my marathon, I read a blog post by Emily about a 5k she did on Valentine’s Day called “Love the Run You’re With”. That phrase just really stuck with me. Honestly, it has changed the way I view most of my workouts, and even (dare I say) my life. Yup, it was that revolutionary. ...Keep reading athttp://racingrobsons.com/beth/2013/08/02/love-the-run-youre-with/...more

So many racing plans!

As I mentioned before, I've had a bit of races-I-want-to-do-OVERLOAD. I love dreaming about all the different races I can do, but I know I just can't do them all. Why, you ask? Well, for one: Races are expensive. Two: Some of the races are at the same time. Three: I'm looking at a variety of race types (tris, 5ks, marathons, bike rallies, etc), and it's hard to properly train for everything. I decided it would probably be a good idea to narrow down the list to the races I am going to actually plan to do....more
