St. Patrick's Day conundrum: Are greenies less honest?

... and by "greenies," I mean green consumers, not leprechauns. That's what two assistant professors at the University of Toronto suggest based on their experiments with students. I'm not so sure....more

Another reason to eat your greens

Are you now, or have you ever been, a consumer of canned food?Yeah, me too.And I was none too pleased when I learned that epoxy-lined cans appear to be our main source of bisphenol A (BPA) exposure. I now avoid most canned food, which is kind of a drag convenience-wise (although it has done wonders for my soup-making skills). Everthing's coming up plastic

Apparently Beth Terry is having more of an influence on me than I thought. Last week I had a copy-editing gig downtown, and since it was already a challenge to leave Mini-Mouth in the care of a babysitter (she's quite prone to separation anxiety these days) and get out of the house on time, I did not manage to pack a lunch. ...more

Would this be a conflict of interest?

I have a blog, Wallet Mouth, about ethical consumerism. Recently, a company that I blogged about (in a positive light) a few months ago approached me to ask if I would write a post on their upcoming blog in exchange for a linkback (no pay). The subject would not be about the company but about its general field, and I would basically be a guest blogger representing an independent voice. It sounds like their blog will feature content both from independent writers about this field and from company employees and users of its service. ...more
