To The Point

I am not completely anti-weapon. For instance, if you are in the military or a policeman, I think it is vital for you to be armed. You need to be armed to protect me, my family, and our country, not to mention, yourself. If you live somewhere where you might be attacked by a bear on your way to get your mail, it may be a good idea to have a hunting rifle handy. The same goes for knives, there is a place for knives in society. I myself have many in my kitchen, and Nick keeps a pocket knife in his toolbox for his man type stuff....more

Is That a Mushroom, or Are You Just Happy to See Me?

Have you ever had to google “wiener mushrooms?” The results you get are weird. Particularly the dude who asked Yahoo Answers why his wiener looked like a mushroom. That’s got to be fake, right? But, I digress.Sunday morning I went outside to clean up the carnage from the party, and discovered these. They literally popped up overnight. {snicker}I made Nick come outside and take a look by explaining that we seem to have yard dicks. Of course he was intrigued and obviously we had to take pictures....more

Thoughts on Motherhood

I am the proud mommy of two tiny troublemakers, Charlie (3 1/2) and Tilly (2), and like all mommies out there I try to do the very best I can for them. In my short time as a mommy, I have discovered a few things about parenthood. First and foremost, I learned that nothing can ever fully prepare you for raising kids. You can take a million classes and read a million books, but no one can teach you everything it takes to be a great mommy.  Some things can only be learned on the job. ...more

One Step Forward, Two Steps Back

It’s Friday, and I’m not really sure how that happened. Has this ever happened to you? I I feel like I haven’t sat down all week, yet I am fighting a losing battle. I clean it up, I turn around and it’s destroyed again. I wash the clothes, I fold them and put them away and the hamper is over flowing yet again. How in the hell does this happen?...more

The Worst Thing Ever.

Just after Charlie was born, a friend of mine was over and Charlie was having a tough day. He had his first cold, and was just generally miserable. At the time, being a new mom, I was struggling to figure out what to do and how to make him happy. My friend laughed a little and said, “the important thing to remember is that babies have no experiences to compare anything to, so everything is either the best thing or the worst thing that has ever happened to them.”...more

Black Lab: 1 Sandee:0

I love dogs. I consider myself a dog person. In fact, the only reason we don’t already have a dog is because I don’t want another mammal in my house that doesn’t wipe it’s own ass. This past weekend, Nick and I took the kids to Wisconsin to get out of the city and spend some time with friends. In an attempt to stay on track with getting in shape, I decided to take advantage of the brisk springtime weather and take a power walk through a nearby neighborhood....more

Giggle Bag

While Charlie has turned a corner into an annoying phase that I hope ends in the next seven seconds, Tilly has entered one that I hope never ends.My sweet girl threw her first full-on violent tantrum about a week after she turned one. From then until about a week ago, her tantrums were something that the whole family just ignored and worked around....more
