5 Ways to Stay Mentally Fit After 50

Dr. Seuss once said, "I like nonsense. It wakes up the brain cells." I couldn't agree more! Any one of his stories automatically makes you sit a little straighter and smile a little wider. Nonsense is like putting your brain on healthy steroids. So, what if you are over 50 and not yet reading Dr. Seuss to your grands? Here are a few ideas to keep the brain cells active.1. Celebrating Independence

On this  holiday weekend, I have a question for you. What does your independence mean to you? The meaning of the word is freedom from the control, influence, support, aid, or the like, of others. As a country we are so blessed to have our freedom. It's an incredible reason to celebrate and we'll all spend this weekend honoring our country in different ways. Some of us will cookout with friends at the beach, lake or in our backyards. Others will attend baseball games, parades and firework displays....more

When one of the heels started to come apart I returned them to the store thinking I could exchange them. (They were expensive and should have lasted more than a couple of months - even if I slept in them.) Nope. There were no more in my size. No harm no foul, I thought. I'd return them and then re-order....more

Genie is Free

What a sad day. I grew up with Robin Williams. Mork and Mindy was one of our favorite shows. We looked forward to it because we knew we would belly laugh at least once... "Nan Nu Nan Nu!"To imagine now that this man, who was so extremely talented, could have been so troubled as to kill himself is heartbreaking. So many are touched by this tragic news. My daughter is in Disney World as we speak and her reaction was classic."Mom, it is so sad to have the Genie die while you're at Disney."...more
