Stuff your kids will play with that doesn't require batteries, tested by a mom who’s been there.

We love technology in our house, but it is nice to have some things that don’t require power (since we seem to lose that a lot where we live), and things that my kids can do together --sometimes without arguing! ...more

Cinnamon Ginger Waffles with Vanilla Peach Honey Topping

I'm so excited to share this recipe! For quite a while I've been experimenting with a waffle recipes. There were a lot of duds but this one, this one is pretty dang near perfect. Even my husband likes them and he's honest to a fault. These have no coconut flavor what-so-ever and use very little coconut flour, which is a great way to really stretch out the ingredients....more
I just might have to go out and buy a waffle iron...those sound delicious!more

Carrots pushed me over the edge...

Just a warning: this is a Crohn's heavy entry, I'm talking about poop, and gas here!  I inadvertently put myself into what I'm calling a mini-flare on Saturday night/Sunday morning. I'm still feeling the effects right now. It's odd, because as of right now my bowel movements are formed, and I only had two bouts of loose stool. The real issue I'm having is joint pain, mostly in my wrists, which is the area that has been the most effected by my disease. ...more

As she fades

My mother’s heath has been on the decline for the past few years.  I don’t even like to say she’s sick because no one knows what is wrong with her. They throw around some phrases like “toxic neuropathy” but really they don’t know what happened or what’s going on or what’s going to fix it or even if they can. She’s been tested for everything several times (and I mean everything, she still gets a Lyme’s test every three months as well as lupus)....more

The best advice I can give right now

My sister-in-law is pregnant with her first child. My brother said she wanted to talk to me because I’m an “expert” in this area. Granted, I do have three children but they are young (9, 5, and 2) and I’m the first to admit I really don’t have any plan as to what I’m doing. This is all done on instinct....more

Great advice! And so true.

What's Wrong With Me: My Crohn's Story

For years no one believed me, thought that I was making up the constant stomach ache and nausea to get out of doing things. For years I thought it was my nerves. For years I’ve had this disease attacking my body to the point where I was waking up with nausea every single day, that after I ate I would have such an intense ball of pain in my stomach that I had to just lay down. I finally went to the doctor when the pain moved slightly to the right and I thought my appendix had ruptured....more

How Depression Twists

Trying to keep a positive attitude meaning constantly reminding myself what I'm grateful for. In some moments I go into this dark place where I can't seem to remember anything in my life that I'm happy or grateful and when I do, my disease likes to twist them. For example, I can say I'm always grateful for my children but my disease will twist it into You don't deserve your children....more
