KY has before it Senate Bill 68 that would make it so that any person who wants to adopt or foster a child while co-habitating with someone they aren't "legally married to and sexually involved with" ILLEGAL. A "different" kind of Parent

I've wondered sometimes why they put Adoptive parents under a microscope before allowing us to be parents, whereas a "normal" person can just have a baby (or LOTS of babies) on a whim. One thing that occurred to me (DUH) was that our children are special. And I don't mean in a bad way, but they do have one thing in common that biological families don't...and that is loss. ...more

Mine and Real: Having a child

As an adoptive parent I get lots of questions. Especially when it comes to either my daughter or my Single Parenthood by Choice status. I get other questions about why I chose to adopt from outside of the US, too, but today what's on my mind is "having" children and being a "real" Mom. Questions from people I know: 1.
