Life, The Homestead And Everything

“Having solved all the major mathematical, physical, chemical, biological, sociological, philosophical, etymological, meteorological and psychological problems of the Universe except for his own, three times over, [Marvin] was severely stuck for something to do...” ― Douglas Adams. Things I Won't Give Up

As we start to make our move from this fabulous home my husband built, I look around and decide that there are a few things that will not be staying here, even if I have to throw a temper tantrum for a week straight. You see, I hand-picked everything... I love everything about this house... I want to keep everything in this house... if I could, I'd just pick it up and move it to our new land and be done with it!...more

Farmgirl Or Diva?

My coffee table tells all. I subscribe to Grit, BAZAAR, Living the Country Life, Natural Health, Hobby Farms, Caribbean Travel, Mother Earth News and Elle Magazine. All these magazines are just sitting on my table ready to expose me. What are they saying? "Hey you, visitor. Take a look at us, do you think she's a bit confused or what?" The only step I’ve made so far is to not use plastic containers in the microwave and switch over to (mostly) using glass storage containers in the fridge....more

The DHEA Initiative

One time, for no particular reason, I woke up with a list of things for my husband to do – it was just floating around in my head. I shouted them off to him – just line-itemed it. He responded with a confused sideways-look* and a “huh?” that sent me into some deep, unknown place. I continued in such a way that made him feel like he’d be less of a man if he couldn’t do it. That sent him into defense-mode and he grabbed a piece of paper and pen and wrote it all down. He stormed out of the bedroom and quickly got the day started....more
