Shingles...through Mom Colored Glasses...

I sat down to talk about something upbeat, about how career opportunities come in all shapes and sizes. When that didn’t work, I tried talking about intuition for moms. When that failed miserably, I realized the story I needed to tell today. A tiny slice of my journey. According to CNN commentator Hilary Rosen, Ann Romney was not qualified to speak about women’s issues considering her not “working a day in her life” She backtracked on Twitter all the way to an on-air apology, but the statement was out and the damage had been done. The fire had been stoked, both on Twitter and in me....more

It was the Thursday before we moved, and I should have been elbow deep in serious packing. Boxes were stacked up in every corner, and the house was trashed. But instead I spent the morning dashing around the house picking up balled up newspapers, sticking random unpacked “stuff” in cupboards and drawers, and putting on eye shadow....more

Bedtime moments...

I love bedtime routines, especially at Fiona's age. They know what to expect and it is comforting to them...and honestly, it is a nice thing to look forward to for me too. These days when I put Fiona to bed, we start with putting on her "jams" and a clean "dipe", brushing her teeth, and cuddling up on the glider to read some stories....more
