The Finale: Never Doubt a Mother's Intuition

It was a dark, stormy night...well, actually, it was daytime and pretty sunny---oh, and hot as hell. Mother Nature finally got over her PMS, and it was gorgeous out. With bed rest lifted and the weather cooperating for once, Piggle and I decided to take full advantage with a much-needed trip to the park. Luckily, our playground of choice is less than a ten minute trek from our house---even with a toddler who begs to stop and smell every. single. flower along the way....more

Things You Should NEVER Say to the Parent of a Toddler

Since becoming a mother, I have been bombarded with unwanted, useless advice and seriously unwarranted comments about my parenting choices. When Piggle hit toddlerhood, the unsolicited advice-giving seemed to triple. While I realize that many of these people are genuinely trying to help or, at the very least, make me feel better, the very last thing I need when I’m eyeballs deep in tantrums is some busybody poking their nose into my business. Here are the top ten things people have said to me that truly warrant a kick to their genitalia: ...more

I am Not Crazy!

Before I begin, let me state that this is not easy for me to write. Admitting what I am about to is probably the second hardest thing I've ever had to do, but it is my hope that it will shine some light for someone else in a similar situation. This will not be funny, light-hearted, or possibly even enjoyable to read, but it is the truth and how I live my life every single day....more

The Best Part of Being a Mommy

As a mother, I have plenty to look forward to. From the basic milestones to the quirkier moments (i.e. poopy-fingerpainting), there is never a dull moment as a mommy. There are up and downs; times when I piss my pants laughing and times when I just walk away shaking my head in disbelief. And then there are those moments when my heart is forced to swell to such inconceivable proportions -- moments when no tantrum, diaper explosion, or teething marathon can even touch on the happiness my child has brought me. Today, held one of those instances....more
That just melted my heart. I can't wait to hear those words from my Danny! Slightly jealous over ...more

I Am More Than A Mother

I am a mother. It is my job title, my raison d'etre, and it's a never-changing constant in my life. It is not, however, who I am. Motherhood has defined my life, but it is not my identity. I was a person with hopes, dreams, and life goals before having a baby. I laughed at dirty jokes, got into trouble, and went dancing in the rain. Although I have adopted the second name of 'Mom', I still remain the person I was before I did so....more

5 Things I Swore I'd Never Do

Before you become a parent, you are able to freely judge those with children. You can easily look down on them as lesser beings. You vow to yourself to show them exactly how a 'good' mother does things when you have kids of your own. And then you have a baby...If you don't yet have children, please, enjoy your daydreams because once the bundle of joy is here, you'll forget any of your morals exist. I promise....more

A Letter to My Son

There are days when I certainly don't qualify for the Mother-of-the-Year award. Times when there isn't enough coffee in the world to make me want to play Hot Wheels for the ninetieth consecutive hour. There are moments when all I want is to take a nap, or at the very least, think like an adult for more than half a second....more

Top 4 Toddler Halloween Costumes

One of the more fun aspects of having a toddler is that I get to make all the big decisions in life for what he's going to wear for Halloween. For the past two months, I've been scouring the Internet for costume ideas for the boy. I've come across the basics (i.e.: superheroes, fuzzy animals, and cowboys), but I've also found several inappropriate, albeit hilarious, get-ups....more

Teething Nightmares

Piggle is at it again; raising hell by means of teething.I love my child, I really do---at least that's what I tell myself whenever he starts up with this tooth bullshit. I can't even begin to express how excited I am for it to be over....more

Deadly Weapons a.k.a Baby Fingernails

If you were to come over today, not only would you be hit by an avalanche of toys and knick-knacks, you'd probably walk away with some pretty severe lacerations. Piggle is walking around with razors on the ends of his fingers. In other words?I haven't cut his nails in awhile....more
