Lessons on Being Entertaining on Facebook

Some people get on facebook to play games, some join fanpages, others update their statuses hourly with scintilating information like "just finished eating" and "fell and scraped my knee :(" Although some of the fan pages amuse me like "Hi, Can I help you? No I just waited 15 minutes in line to say hi." Mostly my interaction with my family is what cracks me up. So I thought I'd share my wall with you for your amusement and entertainment....more

A Conversation in Ruby Tuesdays

Well yesterday when the power went out, we went to Ruby Tuesdays so we could A. watch the end of the football game, B. Get something to eat without maiming myself by cooking in the dark and C. go to the bathroom (since I couldn't find a flashlight, my bathrooms have no windows and are therefore completely dark without electricity and the kids are scared of the dark. ) Anyway, while there we ran into my cousin Tony....more

The Story of The Six Year Old and Mr Hyde

Once upon a time there was a six year old who didn't get enough sleep. He went to school on Monday came home cranky, took a nap in the afternoon and stayed up too late. He went to school on Tuesday, came home, took a nap in the afternoon and claimed not to be tired at 10:00pm. He went to school on Wednesday, came home did his homework and became Mr. Hyde right around dinnertime. I was preparing dinner and he was have a screaming, yelling, jumping up and down, throw himself on the floor, terrible two tantrum because I wasn't doing a craft with him....more

All About Me and How We Invented Game Night

So if you have never ever read my blog and don't know me personally, you might not know that I am one of ten siblings and am very close to my family.  So the kids have been off from December 23 to January 3.  During that period of time my family got together on the 23, 24, 25, 30, 31, and 2.  This doesn't include the time spent with my husband's family.  However this post isn't about them so moving on.  Anyway, we have been getting together to play board games for years.  Hasbro totally stole the idea from us.  Anyway, someone got the game of things in the...more

So last night was one of those nights when I just couldn't sleep.  I have them now again.  Now I was exhausted last night.  If you read my post about the lazy coaches at my sons flag football calling the game when it wasn't raining then you probably knew this was coming.  The make up game.  And of course they can't put it at a time convenient for me, noooo.  They decide that in between pra...more

The Girl in the Whirl

This is a great poem that I found and want to share with you. I think the lesson is clear. The Girl in a Whirl by ‘Dr. Sue’ (a.k.a. Vickie Gunther) Look at me, look at me, look at me now! You could do what I do If you only knew how. I study the scriptures one hour each day; I bake, I upholster, I scrub, and I pray. I always keep all the commandments completely; I speak to my little ones gently and sweetly. I help in their classrooms! I sew all they wear! I drive them to practice! I cut all their hair! I memorize names of the General Authorities; ...more

My first grader received a packet of seven worksheets (back and front so fourteen) for homework practice last night. Since it was his birthday, I didn't make him do any but postponed it until today. All of the worksheets were stapled together with a note from his teacher saying that he needed to practice his handwriting so he can be neater and faster in class. Personally, if I can get him to do one of the two, I'm happy. Anyway she said that I can return it at the end of the week which I took to mean Friday. ...more

Ice Cream and Cake

So my son yesterday was hysterical because it was the deadline to enter the ice cream and cake dance contest. We hadn't entered although we have been talking about it for some time.  If you have seen and Baskin Robbins commercials lately you know what I mean.  www.brvideocontest.com Of course he is firmly convinced that he is going to win us $10,000 so we can go on vacation plus he wants free ice cream. ...more

Photo download

Ever go to to your digital camera and discover that you have pictures from six months ago still there? Okay true confession, I got the camera for Christmas and the Christmas pictures are still on there. Terrible I know. So finally downloaded 351 pictures. And then only because the hubby was asking for a specific picture from February.   ...more

Parenting Styles

Well I was watching "Wife Swap" yesterday and thinking about my parenting philosophy.  If you have never seen the show, the name is a little inaccurate.  It is more like mom swap where two moms switch places for two weeks.  The first week both moms live by the rules of the other household and then they change the rules and for one week the families live by the rules of the new mom.  Of course, they usually set up two opposites like a clean freak with a really messy home or an overachiever with a real underachiever.  So I started thinking about how my parenting sty ...more
